Posted Date: 11/14/25 (5:00 PM)

Dear Bloomfield Community,

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week. I’m excited to share a few reminders, updates, and highlights from across our district that demonstrate the enthusiasm, talent, and dedication that make Bloomfield such a special place.

Capital Improvement Project Vote – Tuesday, November 18

This is a friendly reminder that the Capital Improvement Project vote will be held Tuesday, November 18, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM in the LGI at the Middle/High School, located near the Athletic Entrance.

Thank you to everyone who attended Monday night’s public presentation. For those who couldn’t make it, both the presentation PDF and video recording are available on our website: https://bloomfieldcsd.org/capitalproject

This proposed project was thoughtfully redesigned after carefully considering input from the community. The proposed project will have no additional tax impact for residents. Key items included in the project include:

  • Relocation of the Bus Garage
  • Boiler replacements at the Elementary School
  • Updates to the clock and PA systems throughout the district
  • Door replacements throughout the District
  • HVAC work throughout the District
  • Window hardware replacement at the Middle/High School

As always, we welcome your questions and feedback at (585) 657-6121 or adoell@bloomfieldcsd.org.

School and Student Highlights

Our campuses were full of energy and connection this week. The HS Student Council hosted another fun roller-skating event for our 3rd–5th graders, while our MHS Ambassadors warmly welcomed Kindergarten students for a tour of the Middle/High School.

Students who attended the World Savvy Conference shared their insights at this week’s faculty meeting, offering thoughtful ideas to help strengthen student engagement. Their leadership and collaboration continue to impress us.

We also want to recognize several staff and student accomplishments:

  • Mrs. Coleates, PPS Department Secretary, has been an incredible support to Mrs. McGuire as she transitions into her interim PPS Director role. Her expertise, calm nature, and positivity make a meaningful difference every day.
  • Mr. DelRossa, our Head Mechanic, continuously goes above and beyond—whether he’s in the garage, driving routes, assisting with training, filling in wherever he’s needed, or contributing to the Facilities Committee. His humor, teamwork, and strong work ethic make him invaluable to our transportation team.
  • Mr. Grundman brightens every space he enters. His consistent positivity, dependable work ethic, and willingness to help are truly appreciated by our Facilities Department and everyone who works with him.
  • Congratulations to Paige Boyd, Katie Colegrove, and Noah St. Dennis for performing with the selective honor choirs at the NYSSMA Zone 2 Area All State Festival, a well-earned achievement based on their outstanding solo festival scores.
  • Congratulations to our Varsity Girls Volleyball Team on winning their second consecutive Section V Class C2 Championship! This current sectional title marks the 6th straight season we have had teams win a sectional title and is the 10th sectional title Bloomfield teams have won since the winter of 2024.
  • A special shout-out to Senior Calla McCombs, who was named Section V Class C2 Volleyball Championship MVP for the second year in a row, an incredible accomplishment.
  • Thank you to Mrs. Ashton and the CARES Club for creating such a meaningful and welcoming Veterans Day Assembly. Their decorations and contributions to the program helped honor our veterans while teaching our students about kindness, service, and gratitude.
  • Our Transportation Department continues to play a key role in supporting student experiences, from bringing elementary students to the fall play preview to providing a spectator bus for our volleyball sectional finals and crossover game.

Instructional Spotlight

Our teachers continue to bring learning alive through interdisciplinary instruction. This week, Mrs. Oliphant’s 5th grade class explored a historical event using rich texts while also learning about point of view, perspective, speaking, and listening. Her thoughtful planning created a powerful learning experience that connected multiple standards in meaningful ways.

Veterans Day Recognition

On Monday, the District proudly hosted its annual Veterans Day Ceremony to honor Bloomfield’s veterans. Thirty-nine veterans attended, with several arriving early to speak with our student leaders. Highlights included:

  • Senior Casey Acoff performing the National Anthem
  • Reflections from Middle School students Ian Stochl and Allie Steinbach
  • Closing words of gratitude from two CARES Club members, Jamie Donnelly and Emelia Seeley
  • A moving address from Bloomfield alumni Major Alexander Saxby on how ordinary people create extraordinary legacies through service
  • Mayor Mark Falson honoring each veteran by name

Afterward, 19 veterans stayed to meet with M/HS students in the library, answering questions and sharing their experiences. It was a memorable and meaningful morning for everyone who attended.

World Kindness Day

Thursday, November 13, 2025, marked World Kindness Day, a wonderful reminder of the power small acts of kindness have in our school community. Offering a helping hand, showing gratitude, treating others with respect, or inviting someone who may feel left out—each of these gestures strengthens our sense of belonging. Kindness is one of our Bomber Expectations, and our students, faculty, and staff continue to model it beautifully every day in our classrooms, hallways, and beyond.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. We’re proud to celebrate the incredible things happening in our District. Please remember to let us know if you ever have any questions or ever need anything.
