Bloomfield is located in central New York State, in Ontario County. The school community encompasses several townships with a mix of residential, rural, and suburban areas. The district serves a population of approximately 6,000 residents. Bloomfield is situated 10 miles from the city of Canandaigua and 15 miles from Rochester. A number of colleges and universities are located nearby.

The Bloomfield School District covers 60 square miles and serves approximately 750 students. The district consists of two buildings: a UPK-5 elementary school, a 6-8 middle school, and a 9-12 high school. More than 85% of high school graduates continue to higher education. Almost all special education students are served within the district. Approximately 3% of high school students are enrolled in occupational education programs through cooperation with the Wayne-Finger Lakes Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES). The administrative team includes the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations, High School Principal, Middle School Coordinator, MHS Assistant Principal & Athletic Director, Elementary Principal, Director of Teaching, Learning & Accountability, Director of Pupil Personnel Services, and Director of Instructional Technology & Innovation. The district employs approximately 112 teachers and 92 support staff (in full-time equivalents, FTEs).

Bloomfield Elementary School serves a diverse population of approximately 460 students, from Universal Pre-K through Grade 5. Depending on the population’s configuration by age and needs, there are typically three to five sections per grade level, with an average class size of approximately 20 students. Instructional groups are heterogeneous. Remediation is provided in consultation with classroom teachers and Academic Intervention Support (AIS) teachers, either within the classroom or on a pull-out basis depending on individual student needs. Special education services are also available for students who meet specific criteria, delivered by special education teachers, teacher assistants, and related service providers. The Elementary School operates on a 6-day special subject schedule cycle.
 
The goal of the elementary program is to develop literate students who read for multiple purposes, engage with literature to learn about themselves and the world, and communicate their learning to make a positive impact.

Bloomfield Middle School was formally established in the fall of 2004, creating a separate educational entity focused on middle-level education within the secondary building. The Middle School serves approximately 235 students in Grades 6 through 8.
 

Established in 1938, Bloomfield High School is a public institution serving approximately 325 students in Grades 9 through 12.
 

The District offers a range of services, including speech, occupational, and physical therapy, as well as academic support, for eligible students through the Special Education Program. Many students receiving special education services remain in their general education classes with consultant teacher support or receive related services such as speech therapy. Some students receive supplemental academic support from special education teachers, while others require specialized direct instruction. These services may be provided in the general education setting, or, if appropriate, through a pull-out program. While the district aims to provide all services within the district, students whose academic, physical, or social needs require more specialized programs may attend other districts or BOCES sites.
 

A primary objective of the Bloomfield Central School District is to develop the strongest support programs possible through partnerships between parents, teachers, administrators, counselors, social workers, therapists, support staff, and students. Students with educational needs requiring additional instruction or services may access support through referral to the district’s Instructional Support Teams, one of which is located in each school, or through identification by the Committee on Special Education.
