On Friday, May 15, students from the Bloomfield Elementary School celebrated Bike-to-School Day, riding their bicycles on a trail through the Bloomfield campus. This year was the fourth annual bike ride, bringing together 95 students who might not otherwise have the chance to ride their bikes to school.
“Since we’re a rural district and most kids can’t ride from their house due to speed limits, etc., this gives everyone an opportunity to ride to school safely,” said PE teacher Mrs. Jessica Geiger, who organized and led the event.
Students rode in two groups from the BCS tennis courts to the Elementary School playground to hang out and play before school started. Once at the playground, students could play or continue to ride their bikes while music blasted from a speaker. Students then rode their bikes to the flagpole in front of the school before starting their school day.
Bike-to-School Day is a great way to bring the Bloomfield community together, making healthy choices and spending time with friends. Thanks to everyone who came out and to Mrs. Geiger for organizing this event!
