Ann Alden » Welcome

Welcome

Dear Students,

Allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Mrs. Alden and I am a 6th grade teacher.  This year I'll be your social studies teacher.

This is my 16th year teaching at Bloomfield!  I started my teaching career at Bloomfield as the computer teacher for the Elementary School. After 2 year teaching about computers, I moved to 4th grade. I was a fourth grade teacher for 6 years.

I now teach in the Middle School and this is my 8th year teaching 6th grade.

As a child I grew up in Hamlin, New York and graduated from Hilton High School. I earned my Bachelor's Degree from St. John Fisher college, and was awarded my Master's Degree from Nazareth College.  My husband and I live in Webster, New York and we have two grown daughters, Jessica and Michelle.

Jessica is a Professor at Howard University and teaches Occupational Therapy. She lives in Washington, DC in a very nice apartment with her Persian cats, Gerry and Honey, who are her roommates.  Gerry is quite a character and loves people!

Michelle has been a travel nurse and is currently working at Strong Hospital. Michelle has lived and worked in many cities in the U.S., including Hawaii twice.  She has traveled to many countries also. Australia, New Zealand, south America, Germany, Italy, Russia, China, Ireland just to name a few.

I have many hobbies and some of my favorites are reading, making quilts, and knitting.  When I am reading, which is often, my favorite genres are mysteries and historical fiction. I have made many quilts as gifts.

My husband and I also enjoy sailing. We own a 30 foot sailboat whose name is "Summer's Glory".  We have sailed on much of Lake Ontario and frequently sail across the lake to Canada during the summer months.

I am very excited about working with all of you. I enjoy teaching social studies and science. Together we'll have many opportunities to investigate and learn about our world during the new school year.

Mrs. A
