Peterson’s is an information services company, that is the “leading provider” of information on educational institutions and other educational opportunities in the United States.

College View:

This site, provided by Hobsons Publishing Company, includes virtual tours of campuses, categories for information specifically developed for Students, Parents, Admissions, and Counselors, as well as a College Search, Education Index, E-Mail and featured Colleges and more.

SUNY State University of New York:

All things SUNY! Allows students to identify programs of study and learn about the various NYS colleges and universities.


College Affordability Guide

THE MISSION: to provide clear, correct info and advice on the many options students have to reduce the cost of their degree, and to offer a fresh analysis of which colleges are doing the most to make high-quality education affordable. We analyzed 10,000,000+ data points from 5,000+ degree-granting colleges and universities across the US, looking for the most affordable colleges and degrees. Less than 10% of those schools made it into our rankings.

Best Schools Online College in NYS:

On this site you will find 58 New York colleges and universities offer at least one fully online degree program at a bachelor’s level or higher. You also will find several schools that offer graduate-level degrees.

College Visits

Each fall Bloomfield hosts its Rochester Area Colleges visit. Additionally, admission representatives from colleges visit on an individual basis. The schedule of these individual visits are on Naviance Family Connection and the daily announcements. Students must register for these visits on Naviance.


College Fairs


Each year there are several colleges that students have the opportunity to attend, counselors will inform students and parents of these opportunities through emails and announcements:
  • Eastview Mall Fair-Fall
  • SUNY College Fair-Fall
  • Rochester National College Fair at Riverside Convention Center-March
    • Bloomfield will be taking a Juniors to this event


College Applications

The Common Application currently allows students to apply to close to 500 different colleges and is currently Bloomfield's application of choice for students applying to 2 or more colleges.

Students not applying through the Common App should consider applying through the SUNY Application or individual college websites.

Students must continue to update their Naviance Family Connection page as transcripts and recommendation letters will be sent out through that site by the counselors.


Recommendation Letters: Students must give a staff person a minimum of 2 weeks to complete a recommendation. Counselors require the BRAG FORM that is distributed in the senior seminar. 


College Application Processing/Transcript Request Form:  The form is required to be completed before counselors send transcripts, letters of recommendation and other information required in processing the college applications. Please find the form in the HS Counseling Office.
