Softball Advances to Second Consecutive State Championship
With a 4-0 victory over Section 4’s Deposit-Hancock in the NYSPHSAA semifinals earlier today, Bloomfield is headed back to the Class C state championship game for the second straight year!
The Bombers knocked off the defending Class D state champions behind a dominant, three-hit shutout from pitcher Ashlyn Wright.
Bloomfield struck early, with Wright helping her own cause by drilling a ball into left field to drive in two runs in the top of the first. In the second inning, Sydney Falsone delivered an RBI single, scoring Abby O’Brien from second to make it 3-0. The Bombers tacked on one more in the sixth when Calla McCombs singled, advanced on a groundout, and scored on a one-out base hit by Bri Leitten.
Bloomfield now advances to face Tuckahoe (Section 1) in the Class C state championship game tomorrow at 10 a.m. in Binghamton in pursuit of the first state title in program history.
