FASFA: The Federal Assistance Student Financial Aid
Student financial assistance programs that provide grants, loans, and work-study funds to students attending college or career school. 

All college bound students need to complete a FASFA to be considered for these programs and programs at individual colleges.

Federal Loan Repayment Estimator:  This is an important tool to help estimate your future monthly payments for your federal student loans, including for your Federal Direct and Federal PLUS Loans. Determine how much salary will be required to make the payments on this debt.

College Board's Net Price calculatorA net price calculator (NPC) is an online tool that provides estimates of college costs for prospective students, based on a set of inputs, such as family income, size and assets. The NPC calculates estimated grant and scholarship aid and subtracts that total from a college’s cost of attendance, resulting in an estimated net price.

Scholarships for Students with Disabilities

Financial Aid Tool Kit:  This site is resource site for major federal student aid resources.  There are step by step directions for the FAFSA; videos and fact sheets to help with the process of applying for aid and student loans.

Financial Aid Resource Web Site Reference Sheet: This resource provides several financial aid web sites for FAFSA; Types of Aid; Repaying Loans; College Prep; and more.

Compare Your Financial Aid Awards:  This College Board tool will help you compare financial award packages from the various school applied too.  Financial award letters are typically sent in March/April. 


Local Scholarships:  Bloomfield students will have the opportunity in the Spring to apply to several scholarships that are awarded at the Spring Awards Ceremony and Graduation.  Students can learn about these opportunities via the announcements and by links provided on Naviance Family Connection (Student login and password needed.)

The Community Foundation Scholarships for Rochester Area Schools:  Check this scholarship site out for a variety of scholarships available to students in the Great Rochester area only! Scholarships vary--some are general and for any student; some are more specific like nursing; culinary; technology; teaching; landscaping and MORE. The website is easy to navaigate and will connect you to the scholarship opportunites the qualifications and applications: www.racf.org

The New York State Education Department Scholarship for Academic Excellence is awarded every year to 3 seniors based on the Regents score formula below. The award amount is between $500 and $1,500. Students MUST attend a New York State school to receive the scholarship. The scholarship is processed by the school counselors, not by students.

Comprehensive English - weight of three
Algebra 2 & Trigonometry - weight of three
Global studies - weight of one
U.S. history/government - weight of one
Science- 2 courses- weight of one for each course

This site, by the NASFAA, accesses a searchable database with more than 180,000 private sector scholarships, grants, etc. from more than 3,000 sources.

The AAU Sullivan Award and Scholarship Program:  
Available to HS Seniors who are or who have been participants in any AAU sport.  The AAU Sullivan Committee is proud to announce the 2014 AAU High School Sullivan Award and Scholarship Program. The Committee will be awarding a total of $40,000 in Scholarship Funds to eight (8) different recipients; four (4) male and four (4) female athletes. The AAU Sullivan Committee would like to thank you for your interest and application with the AAU High School Sullivan Award and Scholarship Program. Finalists will be announced in April. HESC Scholarships, Grants and Awards

Grants, scholarships and awards come from several sources, including the college, New York State and the Federal government. Other sources include funding from corporations, unions, trust funds, religious and fraternal organizations, and other associations. New York State STEM Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathmatics Incentive Program

The NYS STEM Incentive Program provides a full SUNY or CUNY tuition scholarship for the top 10 percent of students in each New York State high school if they pursue a STEM degree in an associate's or bachelor degree program and agree to work in a STEM field in New York State for 5 years after graduation.  Click on the link to learn more about this scholarship: STEM.

National Merit Scholarship:  The mission of National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) is to recognize and honor the academically talented students of the United States. NMSC accomplishes its mission by conducting nationwide academic scholarship programs. To qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Juniors must take the PSAT in the Fall of their Junior year.

Big Future by College Board:  A scholarship match service.  By entering interests and general information about the student the scholarship match will connect you to scholarships; internships and financial aid opportunities.

The Jenkins Memorial Scholarship: For high school seniors who will be pursuing a degree in education is now available on the NYS PTA website.

Casella Waste Management Scholarship:  The Ontario County Board of Supervisors announced they will again award Casella Environmental Waste Management academic scholarships to qualified Ontario County (applicants must be a resident of Ontario County) college or college-bound students who are pursuing majors in environmental studies, agriculture or agricultural business including waste management. Applications can be picked up in the HS counseling office.
